Greetings Christians, Christ-followers, and sincere seekers! |
Behold, in a boat, the Lord using parables to teach the multitude upon the shore. "The Sower went forth to sow", sending out many seeds. Some fell on parched ground and dried. Some were eaten by birds. Some grew, only to wither or become choked out by weeds. Others grew and did produce good fruit.
Later, the disciples ask about this parable method and he answers, "Unto you is given to know all knowledge." As for the masses, he describes them w/ a prophecy from Isaiah. "For verily I say unto you that, many prophets and righteous men desired to see the things which ye see. Hear then ye the parable of the Sower." (c f. Matt.13 & Mark 10)
The Word of God has been circulated using various means; in ancient times, it was spoken aloud by holy ones, by handwritten scrolls, visual artworks, devotional music, religious rituals, traditional holidays, then by printed books of scripture, prose, or poetry. Most recently, in this age, religious/spiritual expression has gone forth by means of
the motion picture show.
Suddenly - a major, new influence upon civilization; a shift from relatively simple forms of teaching, to this 'technological explosion' ! Since the 50's, increasing #'s of people are formulating spiritual beliefs by absorbing TV and movie material. This fact is already old news to most of you, living in the lightening-speed modern arena. Yet, has this news really sunk in, have we grasped the overwhelming implications, have we truly reckoned with our electrified zeitgeist???
(EG)2 - enternet global
the entertainment giant
was created in 1996, to partake of the Good Work : reckoning with the radical implications of ALL high-tech influence. We are growing into a vast collective, cooperating in order to circulate scriptural teachings to the modern world, in a manner which is exciting, intelligent, and real. We utilize multimedia technology to convey the message, yet we'll still be practicing low-tech traditions, as an method of balancing. We want to preserve the old-fashioned, what is tried and true; yet we want to explore the new, complex inventions rising over the horizon. We realize that this enormous mission is incredibly delicate, so we face the task with far-reaching vision, optimism, integrity, and F*A*I*T*H!
Amongst our initial projects is the comprehensive reviewing of all the well-known, cinematic Gospel adaptations. From an exhaustive analysis, we will create a feature-length, audio/video documentary; complete w/ interviews & pertinent excerpts from the original films. Tentatively, it will be available (on VHS format) by mid-2000 AD. It all depends upon support from people like YOU.
Henceforth, let us examine which are the unworthy seed and which are the worthy seed bringing forth good fruit. EG2 will be presenting to the public, a "Jesus Christ movie series", during Winter/Spring 2000 (exact times & place t.b.a. in our newsletter and the mass media). There will also be entertainment & refreshments. Please contact us if you have supplementary ideas or to volunteer! We need :promotional assistance, general stage hands, ushers, people to donate baked goods, and much more. If you want to help out - there's something for everyone to do.
Current title-list of films we're reviewing (some to be shown as part of the series): King of Kings, Jesus of Nazareth, The Greatest Story Ever Told, Jesus, The Robe, Life of Brian, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Last Temptation of Christ, The New Media Bible version, and The Revolutionary. We are open to additional suggestions. Already, it's quite a diverse group.
The time is certainly ripe for a thought-provoking retrospective. Never before has there been a thorough scrutiny of the major "Christ movies", reviewed altogether under critical evaluation and comparison. Nobody has undertaken such a sweeping venture, as far as we know. If they did, we'd expect to have come across it; for who lights a candle and hides it under a bushel?
EG2's documentary review covers the overall sweep of 20th century Gospel views - how modern man has depicted Christ and how this expression has changed through the most recent decades. We'll discuss certain aspects of contemporary culture, such as its relation to and influence upon religion. We'll determine by careful correlation w/ the Bible, whether each of these movies has kept to the official script or whether they have transformed the story. We can only demonstrate our findings as "opinion" and through that, help to guide others to their own opinion.
By thoughtful viewing of our interesting & inquisitive process w/ ample selections from the fine art of cinematography, viewers can decide if the creative license of the movie-makers has been used for better or for worse. We hope that the contents of our documentation will provide enough knowledge to foster more awareness of what is false doctrine and what is Truth.
God has given each person free will, so we are to learn and decide these matters for ourselves. EG2 functions in total respect to this fact and we have no intention of forcing any propaganda - we merely enrich & facilitate you upon your independent spiritual quest! May we all in our own way, come to realize the divine Plan and see the Light !
Progress and any upcoming events will be announced through our newsletter, "Seed of Vision - an EG2 Project". Subscribing is easy - fill in the EG2 Alliance membership form & send it to us, along w/ any donation you can. To inform you directly about EG2's purpose & projects, we're also available to speak at your schools or churches. As the process unfolds, we're developing articles and P.R. for the press, radio, and TV. This is a publicity drive so, by all means, let us know if you can help convey the news of our work.
If there happens to be a lot of enthusiasm in your community; we could certainly direct the good energy into action, as our work expands! For those of you interested in becoming more involved, we offer a special "enternship". Please contact us about the program. Thanks for listening. Peace be unto you!
The disciples came to him and said, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" So he called a little child to him and set the child in front of them. Then he said, "I tell you solemnly, unless you change and become like little children, you'll never enter the kingdom. And so, the one who makes himself as this little child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven".
